Best overall: Google Pixel Watch
The Google Pixel Watch is the best here thanks to its combination of excellent fitness tracking and other features on top of that.
The Google Pixel Watch is my personal favourite fitness tracker and one that I take with me everywhere. It can track a ton of different exercises, including all of the basic ones like running, rowing, cycling, and more. It has a built-in GPS, single-lead ECG, and runs Wear OS, meaning that it will integrate with any Android smartphone with ease. Also, if you’ve heard of Fitbit, the Pixel Watch is a Fitbit smartwatch with all of the Fitbit integration that you would get on other devices like the Inspire, Versa, and Charge as well.
The only downside is that the Google Pixel Watch is a little more expensive than the other options on this list, but it’s honestly worth it if you want a smartwatch that does it all. If you’re able to wait a couple of weeks, though, then maybe hold out for when Google hosts its launch event for the Google Pixel 8 series next week. There are rumors that the company will be launching a successor to the original Pixel Watch.
This is the watch that I still use daily and I love it, and if Google does end up launching a Pixel Watch 2, I’ll be sure to test that one out at some point. Where the Pixel Watch falls down is its battery life, but for the everyday user, it’s more than good enough.
Best on a budget: Xiaomi Mi Band 7
The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 is the best that you'll get by far on a budget, and the reason is that it's good, accurate, and super cheap. I used to use Mi Bands myself for a long time, and you can't go wrong with one.
If you’re looking to save money, then you can’t go wrong with the Xiaomi Mi Band 7. It’s one of the best in the business for cheap, accurate fitness tracking. I used the Mi Band 4 and the Mi Band 5 as my main fitness trackers for a number of years, and they worked very, very well. You’ll be able to use this fitness tracker on both Android smartphones and iOS, and it has all of the essential features like exercise tracking, SpO2 monitoring, and sleep tracking. Even better is that it lasts up to 2 weeks on a single charge, so you won’t need to remember to constantly top this one up.
Best of both worlds: Fitbit Charge 5
The Fitbit Charge 5 packs most of the same punch as the Google Pixel Watch, but lacks the Wear OS smarts that cost a whole lot more.
If you want something that can do it all but doesn’t quite have the smarts of a full Android-based operating system on your wrist, then the Fitbit Charge 5 is a healthy middle-ground. It has all of the capabilities of the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 and all of the capabilities of the Google Pixel Watch when it comes to fitness tracking, and even has a couple of additional features up its sleeves, too. It has a longer battery life, skin temperature monitoring, automatic workout tracking, and more.
It’s a decent bit more expensive than the Xiaomi Mi Band 7, but it’s a lot cheaper than the Google Pixel Watch and serves as a nice middle-ground between the two. If you’re really serious about your fitness but don’t care for the Android integration of a Pixel Watch, then this is your best option.
Best cheap Fitbit: Fitbit Inspire 3
The Fitbit Inspire 3 is the best you'll get if you're looking for a Fitbit that's cheap. It has all of the basic features you want in a fitness tracker while maintaing a sleek, comfortable design.
If you’re looking for a Fitbit but you want one of the cheapest options available, then the Fitbit Inspire 3 is one of the best options available to you. It has 24/7 heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, SpO2 tracking, water resistance, and up to 10 days of battery life. You’ll also get automatic workout detection and the ability to track a ton of other workouts too. It lacks some of the fancier features like an ECG or an Android-based operating system, but you’re also getting it for a lot cheaper than the rest.
Best Fitbit alternative: Garmin Vivosmart 5
If you're put off by Fitbit and want something a little different, then the Garmin Vivosmart 5 is worth a look. It's not as user-friendly as a Fitbit, but it gets the job done and might be worth your hard-earned cash.
If you’re looking for something that’s not a Fitbit, then your best option is probably the Garmin Vivosmart 5. It gets the job done and has just as many fitness tracking options and workout modes, but it’s just a little bit less user-friendly. It does more or less the same job as the Inspire 3 but costs a little bit more, so that may skew you back towards a Fitbit.
