Google has announced that it will be holding a launch event for its Pixel 8 series of smartphones on October 4th, 2023. The event will be held at 10 AM PT, or 6 PM Irish time, and will be live-streamed on Google’s website. While it hasn’t been confirmed to launch in Ireland, we expect that it will, just like every other main entry to the Google Pixel line up in the last few years.
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are direct successors to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which were released in October 2022. The new phones are rumored to feature Google’s new Tensor chip, as well as improved cameras and a slightly changed design. The base model Pixel 8 is expected to start at $599, while the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to start at $899, with European pricing not expected to diverge too far from that.
The announcement of the Pixel 8 launch event comes just a few weeks after leaked live images of the Pixel 8 Pro from promotional imagery showed up online. The leaked images showed the phone’s design, which features a two-tone back and a hole-punch camera cutout in the center of the display. Google has not yet released any official details about the Pixel 8 series, but the leaks have given us a good idea of what to expect. The new phones are shaping up to be a significant upgrade over the Pixel 7 series, and they could be some of the best Android phones of 2023.
In addition to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Google is also expected to be working on a follow-up to the Google Pixel Watch, and maybe even a successor to the Google Pixel Buds Pro from last year. The October 4th launch event is likely to be a big one for Google, and we’re excited to see what the company has up its sleeves this year.
